Southern Michigan Pain Consultant’s team extends beyond our physicians, physical therapists & behavioral medicine specialists. Our Physician’s Assistants and our Nurse Practitioner are available to help manage your treatment between visits with the physician. To put it simply, they are able to provide your doctor with another view of who you are as a patient and keep track of how you are responding to your treatment.

Thomas Ulrich, PA

Tom Ulrich attained his Bachelor of Arts, Psychology from Montclair State University (1983). He earned his Master of Divinity at Andrews University (1991). He then went on to complete an Associates in Applied Science in Nursing from Lake Michigan College (1994) and then earned his Master in Physician Assistant Studies at University of North Dakota (2006). He became interested in pain management while he was a nurse in oncology and surgery.

Michael McCallister, NP

Michael McCallister, NP is an experienced Nurse Practitioner with Southern Michigan Pain Consultants. Prior to his career in medicine, Michael worked in the field of business, having received his Bachelor of Business Administration and Finance from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI. Feeling a call towards medicine, Michael decided to further his education and enrolled at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Michael went on to earn his Master of Science in Nursing from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Michael is a Family Nurse Practitioner and is ANCC board certified. He assesses, manages, and treats chronic pain in the adult and geriatric population, as well as performs interventional procedures such as trigger point injections, occipital nerve blocks, and bursa injections.
